Programmer/SQL Developer
Working with others in IT and with business managers, apply SQL and programming skills to combine, analyze, and present key business information to help management better understand the business and make information-driven decisions. Develop IT systems to address business needs.
Primary responsibilities:
· Hands-on development of systems combining information from various sources to help meet the strategic needs of the business.
· Work with IT and business managers to understand the business issues and build systems to provide key information.
· Ongoing attention to detail to verify accuracy of systems, cross-validate findings, and continually improve reliability, usefulness, and completeness.
· Support other IT and business initiatives as required.
Technical Skills/Qualifications:
· SQL skills, including sub-selects, joins, aggregation, normalization principles, and indexing strategies. (experience with mariadb / mysql and window functions is a plus)
· Ability to program in php, perl, javascript, react, and HTML and/or other languages containing complex SQL statements
· Understanding of, and interest in, business measures (sales, pricing, inventory, distribution, CRM systems) and the math involved.
· Ability to understand the data interdependencies across diverse information systems and how to translate diverse data into database tables to facilitate analyses.
· Ability to write programs in a clear, efficient manner.
· Ability to read programs written by other programmers and make modifications.
· Ability to find innovative ways to overcome speed issues to make data queries efficient and dynamic even when combining large quantities of data.
· Familiarity with Business Intelligence and ETL techniques and the use of meta-data is a plus.
· Ability to communicate effectively with others in IT as well as with business managers.
· Hands on knowledge of Unix/Linux
· Ability and openness to learn old and new programming languages as needed.
· Oriented to making information and functionality available and providing systems meeting the business needs vs. purely technology-focused.
· Openness to learning from others and adopting new approaches.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Programming, Computer Science or equivalent
· 4 years in a position combining hands-on SQL, Programming, and business analyses
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
