Onsite Process Control Technician/Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Process Automation Technician to provide support and sustain services for a diverse range of process control systems. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing ABB 800xA and Mod300 control platforms within a chemical manufacturing environment. This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in site and corporate safety programs, ensuring all work aligns with safety protocols.
- Provide technical consultation on ABB 800xA and Mod300 hardware, system software, device communications, and control networks.
- Perform routine upgrades, system expansions, and software updates using GPM to enhance process control efficiency.
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, providing troubleshooting and resolution support for process control issues.
- Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Diagnose and debug process control hardware and software issues, implementing effective resolutions.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including program updates and system backups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project design, implementation, and facility startup coverage.
- Serve as the point of contact for shipments and inventory management related to the ABB Inventory Access Program.
- ABB 800xA and Mod300 process control expertise with experience installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and networks.
- Strong background in instrumentation, electrical (I&E) technology, and process control system maintenance (or PLC systems).
- Experience with device communications and control networking in an industrial environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook.
- Knowledge of software programming and troubleshooting as it relates to chemical unit operations.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team while effectively communicating with operations personnel.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and process diligence.
- Prior experience working in chemical manufacturing facilities is preferred.
- Minimum: High school diploma. Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Preferred: At least 2-3 years of hands-on ABB 800xA experience in a process control environment.
