We are seeking a skilled and motivated Server Hardware Technician to join our team for a 12-month, on-site contract. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Dell PowerEdge XE server hardware in a data center or enterprise environment. This position is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience in server infrastructure and a passion for reliable hardware operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure Dell PowerEdge XE servers according to provided guidelines and best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including component-level troubleshooting (memory, CPUs, drives, etc.).
- Perform routine maintenance and firmware updates to ensure optimal server performance and uptime.
- Coordinate with remote engineering and support teams for escalated issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, including service logs, hardware inventory, and incident reports.
- Follow proper ESD and safety protocols during all service tasks.
- Participate in rack and stack activities, cable management, and labeling for data center compliance.
- Ensure all service activities meet SLA and quality assurance standards.
- 2 years of hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware, preferably Dell PowerEdge platforms.
- Strong understanding of server architecture and components (RAID, memory, BIOS, iDRAC, etc.).
- Familiarity with Dell OpenManage and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to lift and install server hardware into racks (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently at a single site.
- Industry certifications (CompTIA Server , Dell EMC certifications, etc.) are a plus.
- This role is onsite only - remote work is not available.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass background screening as required.
