Summary
As a MIG Welder, you will be integral to our fabrication team, responsible for performing high-quality welding tasks using MIG techniques. Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, your role will involve reading blueprints, utilizing hand and power tools, and ensuring precision in your work. Your core skills in welding and basic math will be essential, while your premium skills in sheet metal and crane operation will enhance your contributions. The basic function of this position is to safely set up and operate a variety of welding equipment in order to process and produce high quality products for customers according to the requirements as described in the WPS and process manual.
Reporting Relationship
The production welder I will report to the supervisor. In the event the supervisor is not available they will report to the plant manager.
Job Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 55 lbs on your own and up to 70 lbs with a team lift or equipment assistance
- Ability to walk, bend, stoup, crouch, kneel, climb, stand for 10 hours
- Ability to work in high temperatures
- Ability to communicate needs and concerns in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand process sheets
- Ability to hear horns, buzzers, and an intercom page, and respond accordingly
- Ability to wear proper PPE- eye protection, welding helmets, gloves, and steel or safety toe shoes or boots
- Ability to use electrical and manual tools
- Ability to properly use welding equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Ability to complete weld testing every 6 months or as defined by F3 Metalworx
- Ability to use and understand MIE (MRP system)
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and verify the following:
- Part names and numbers
- Proper metals and equipment prior to use
- Proper tooling and/or metals for specific welding types
- Use all provided safety tools related to specific welding use
- Have knowledge of how to use and set up tooling for specific weld types
- Document use and wear of all tooling
Complete process checks prior to and during operation to confirm the following: tolerances, proper machine function, quality standards
- Maintain accuracy and motivation on repetitive jobs
- Maintain a clean working area during and after operation
- Ensure welding equipment is clean and in proper working condition prior to, during, and after use
- Communicate clearly with the next shift regarding the following: completed items, urgent items, material details, equipment details, items schedule next
- Report any broken tooling or equipment in a timely manner
- Initiate process improvements
- Work with other welders to ensure that the flow of product is efficient
- Keep all welding organized and labeled to ensure proper use and welds
- Fabricate and assemble a variety of components and structures using MIG or TIG welding for the following metals: Stainless, Carbon, Aluminum
- Produce welds in accordance to customer requirements and/or employer specifications
- Read and interpret the following to determine operations require to meet customer demands: diagrams, sketches, blueprints, operate grinders as needed to prepare finished parts
