Job Summary
Oversee Library patron service operations and responsibilities regarding the circulation desk which include the following areas: Interlibrary Loans, Permanent Reserve, New Materials, Special Collections, Front Desk Customer Service, and circulation of all materials.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for sending out overdue notices.
- Understands principles behind classification systems and has knowledge of MARC21 and RDA. Identify, interpret, and apply a wide range of cataloging and classification rules and principles to catalog materials.
- Manage and process incoming and outgoing ILL requests.
- Provide professional reference services and library instruction, which include understanding the organization and classification of all our print, electronic, and multimedia resources for all users.
- Instruct users on performing searches utilizing the most effective resources and search techniques.
- Reports and coordinates daily, weekly, monthly activities to program manager and posts work creations on the library’s shared portal.
- Up to 25% time on circulation desk duties performing library work.
- Provides daily, weekly, monthly reports as assigned and posts work creations on the library shared portal.
- Manage library resources and information to provide optimal access. This includes the many aspects of resource selection, access, evaluation, activation, and management of print, and multimedia resources.
- Cataloging: Performs user-oriented original and copy cataloging of all physical materials including multiple formats (monographs, serials, periodicals, video recordings, archival, and visual materials).
- Maintains all records related to these collections and updates cataloging and holdings information.
- Ensures resources are available through the library’s online catalog and other search/discovery tools as appropriate.
- Collaborates with colleagues as needed to ensure global cataloging policies and procedures that comply with laws, regulations, or standards are established and maintained for the system.
- Develops and leads cataloging projects with all types of resources.
- Troubleshoot and manage ILS issues in the absence of the systems librarians.
- Responsible for Technical Services: This position is responsible to manage and implement an optimal user access best practice procedural system for all aspects of technical services, such as in processing and out processing of various materials. Most technical services activities will be performed independently.
- Document processes and provide continual process improvement.
- Comply with company standard operating policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications and Education
- American Library Association degree required.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Able to carry books and library equipment not to exceed 20 lbs. for up to 10 steps.
