JOB SUMMARY
The Underwater Escape Trainer (UET) Maintainer will have primary responsibility for maintaining, and operating as needed, the XGH 10000/12000 Lifting system. The system is a Cross Gantry Crane that is an electrically powered, pneumatically operated system utilizing components from Rockwell Automation, Allan Bradley and SEW Eurodrive. Additionally, the UET Maintainer will have primary responsibility for the regular maintenance of the Modular Amphibious Egress Trainer (MAET)/Submerged Vehicle Trainer (SVET) Training devices IAW with the OEM manuals and operate during training operations as required. Secondary responsibilities will include directing and reporting of all maintenance related activities under the direct supervision of the site manager.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and document daily pre/post operational checks of the lift system IAW OSHA and OEM guidelines.
- Perform and document daily pre/post operational checks of the MAET and SVET training devices IAW the OEM checklists
- Perform, with assistance, and document detailed inspections of the MAET and SVET at specified periods (10 day, 20 day, 60 day and 240 day) IAW the OEM manuals.
- Perform routine troubleshooting of the primary components of the XGH lifting system.
- Perform routine troubleshooting of high voltage electrical and electrical circuits.
- Assist in the general cleanliness of the training site.
- Assist in the general supervision of students.
- Document processes and provide continual process improvement.
- Comply with company standard operating policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Operation and Inspection of overhead lifting device approved for the lifting of personnel.
- OSHA Crane Inspector certified through Crane Institute of America or the North American Crane Bureau (capable of attaining and maintaining if not already certified)
- Able to orally communicate clearly and concisely maintenance issues and trouble-shooting plans. On occasion, will require the production of written reports and presentations to convey maintenance issues and trends to the client.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide solutions, often in a time-constrained setting. May work independently, or with moderate to limited supervision based on experience level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Experience with RS Logix 5000 and FactoryTalk View.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Performing the duties of this job will require the employee to work in a variety of environments. Large portions of the workday will be spent near a chlorinated pool, either in a climate-controlled building or an outdoor environment exposed to the elements. When performing maintenance on equipment the employee will be subjected to extreme high and low temperatures depending on the time of year.
- Walking / Stooping: Generally required intermittently on a regular basis throughout the workday in a variety of settings.
- Lifting / Bending: Generally required intermittently on a regular basis throughout the workday in a variety of settings. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance or 100 pounds with assistance.
- Vision (Close / Distance / Peripheral): Generally required to work with close/peripheral vision on a regular basis, to include in an underwater environment. Distance vision required periodically. Ability to adjust focus. Ability to identify different color electrical wires.
- Manual Dexterity: Able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Use computer, office equipment/supplies and basic hand-tools.
- Hearing: Generally, ability to hear oral instructions, presentations and equipment operations. Noise level exposure is moderate.
- Travel (Auto / Plane / etc.): Travel local or out of the area to conduct business, training or conferences as required.
