CNC Programmer
Summary/Objective
The Senior CNC Programmer’s objective is to continually improve machining efficiencies and effectiveness through optimization of new and existing CNC programs, tooling, tool holders, tool arrangements and work-holding devices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Creates and controls CNC programs following standardized practices.
  • Designs fixtures and work-holding devices.
  • Establishes tool lists for each work center
  • Stays abreast of new machining methods, fixtures and tools.
  • Assists in the selection and implementation of new equipment.
  • Assists in the development of manufacturing routings, cycle times and costs.
  • May help diagnose/debug/program new and existing work centers.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Optimizes CNC programs to maximize throughput while ensuring the highest possible quality.
  • Creates new CNC programs utilizing CAM software. Verifies through simulation then works closely with operators during prove-out and debug of new CNC programs. Reviews and makes revisions as appropriate.
  • Reviews existing CNC programs and works closely with operators to optimize for each work center.
  • Oversees control of network-based CNC program files.
  • Reviews suggested CNC file revisions with operators and engineering then updates as appropriate through structured change control process.
  • Creates set-up instructions and tool kits for job set-ups.
  • Works with purchasing to standardize perishable tooling and work-holding devices.
  • Continually evaluates new tooling and methods to drive efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education
  • High school diploma plus 10 years work experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience
  • 5 years of experience setting up and operating machining centers
  • 5 years of experience writing CNC programs with and without CAM software
