What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Caulking Foreperson - Northeast position at Fabcon?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that established safety policies are followed
- Train and mentor Associate Foreperson and others on the Erection Crew as needed, including all responsibilities; reports, job lay out, DOT, safety requirements
- Provide work direction, training and promote teamwork amongst the crew members
- Daily logging and review of crew members hours to ensure payroll accuracy
- Work with the crew to erect the building, while concurrently supervising the work
- Implement company policies and procedures to ensure that work performance complies with ISO, PCIPCI, and OSHA standards, including DOT regulations
- Complete new hire paperwork for local union members when required
- Provide input for project pre-planning and follow field plans
- Represent the company on the job site and communicate effectively with the general contractor and sub-contractors
- Keep supervisors informed on the job’s progress and estimate completion dates
- Provide daily reporting via tablet as required to administrative personnel
- Collaborate with the Engineering and Drafting departments to resolve problems as they arise on the job
- Work with Production, Yard, and Shipping personnel when required
- Communicate resource problems to supervisors in a timely manner
- Take initiative to ensure a safe jobsite at all times, and communicate any significant safety hazards impacting job progress to supervisors in a timely manner
- Provide significant technical expertise, including, but not limited to, the technical leadership to erect buildings in accordance with approved drawings and erection methods
- Complete the initial building layout and accurately lay outdoors, windows, and other openings
- Maintain an accurate layout throughout the erection of a building
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years direct experience as an erection crew member
- Minimum of three (3) years pre-cast experience
- Experience with welding and familiarity with general construction practices
- Valid driver’s license
Other Required Qualifications:
- Computer skills
- Ability to use construction mensuration equipment (i.e. transits, levels, and laser levels)
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
- Possess excellent work habits and be able to demonstrate them to subordinates
- Knowledge of crane set-up and signaling
- Knowledgeable about all aspects of erecting pre-cast buildings
- OSHA 30 certification (must be attained within three (3) months of obtaining position)
- Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at different levels
- Ability to foresee potential problems and take necessary action to prevent the problems from occurring
- Ability to work in an organized manner and adapt readily to change
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Membership in the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Welding certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel when required
- Ability to work extensive overtime when required
- Ability to work from heights
- Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
