Summary
As a Survey Technician at Faber Construction, you will play an essential role in supporting our construction projects through precise surveying and data collection. This position is vital for ensuring the accuracy of project plans and contributing to the successful execution of our construction services.
Responsibilities
- Using Digital models to layout structures.
- Utilizing GPS, Total Station, and Laser level equipment to locate and layout elements on job sites
- Work with Field crews to assist them in layout of elements. Instruct and direct as needed for the use of layout equipment.
- Provide staking and layout markings as needed
- Identify design conflicts and discrepancies related to grade, slope, and layout for the purpose of construction and relay discrepancies to manager and site supervisor.
- Communicate design issues and provide quality control on site layout.
- Coordinate design drawings with Field layout.
- Incorporate existing conditions with design layout
- Responsible for overseeing and/or self-performing the layout and staking for any directed work requiring tolerances of less than 3/8” over 50’.
- Coordinate scheduling with manager for survey work.
- Lift, carry and hold materials, tools, and supplies and deliver each to the appropriate location as needed to complete the task at hand.
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
- Perform miscellaneous duties such as; site maintenance and cleanup, installations, grading, and shoveling.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment or materials.
- Ground working, marking out, staking, and digging shallow trenches.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while on job sites and in front of clients.
Required Education:
- Must be 18 years old with high school diploma
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Understanding of basic structures and civil construction elements
- Can read and understand all elements of a plan set
- Working knowledge of Trimble Siteworks, Blue Beam, and MS Excel
- Working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Total Stations
- FAA part 107 Drone License – an Asset
- Knowledge of Trimble Business Center Software – an Asset
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
- Ability to work with related tools and equipment
- Ability to understand instructions and work specifications
- Able to perform physical tasks for all aspects of a construction projects
- Able to lift more than 75 pounds and carry for 50 ft
- Work in various weather conditions including heat and cold
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
