The Junior Estimator role will serve in a technical and administrative support role to the Preconstruction team. The Jr. Estimator should excel in communication and customer relations as they may represent Faber to owners, clients, subcontractors and vendors at times. Being part of the project team means the Jr. Estimator will have good interpersonal skills, is able to work well with others, and has good understanding of the role of each team member and embodies Faber’s Core Values of Integrity, Service, Work Ethic, Creativity and Teamwork.

General Responsibilities:

o Manages project leads database and works with team to keep updated.

o Assists in preparing and the maintenance of, Faber’s directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.

o Read and understand project specifications and bid instructions. Assembling bid forms, ordering bonds and verifying insurance requirements.

o Assists in writing Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for specific clients, tailored specifically to best address the company’s experience to match the request.

o Assists Estimators and Preconstruction team members with takeoffs, bid solicitation, estimates, project setup, document control and other preconstruction tasks, as requested.

o Assist with soliciting pricing from subcontractors/vendors for any aspect of a project estimate, as requested.

o Assist with determining fee/pricing schedules and permitting/application processes from utilities, city, county & other agencies for any services, licenses, permits, etc. need for the construction project when applicable.

o Participate in project hand-off and post-construction meetings to provide feedback to the project team and estimators to continually refine the estimating and preconstruction process.

o Assists in developing and maintaining estimating procedures and guidelines.

o Travels to upcoming projects to attend bid walks and submit bids on behalf of the company.

o Assists with preconstruction workflows, including maintaining decision logs, taking and distributing meeting notes, working through substitution requests, value engineering, preliminary scheduling and other technical tasks as assigned by the Preconstruction Manager.

o Perform administrative functions, for the preconstruction and estimating department and other administrative duties as assigned by the Preconstruction Manager.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

o Minimum of 4-year degree in construction management or applicable field of study, or a combination of hands-on experience and education. Experience with commercial estimating is a bonus.

o Excellent written communication skills. Ability to interface well with clients, at all levels of the organization.

o Possess strong verbal and written communications skills. Can clearly, effectively, and empathetically communicate ideas.

o Demonstrates good organizational skills and prioritization of tasks.

o Detail oriented, able to analyze data to check for errors and omissions.

o Ability to function successfully in a fast paced, team atmosphere.

o Experience with and able to navigate Microsoft Office Programs: Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams.

o Experience with, or able to learn; Procore, Bluebeam, Pantera, BuildR, Microsoft Project and other construction centric software programs.

o Experience in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.

o Understands and uses professional business communication methods, grammar, language and etiquette (on phone, in email, in person, and at meetings (in person/video)).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
