Job Overview: A material handler is an individual responsible for the efficient and organized movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. Their primary role involves loading and unloading shipments, sorting, and organizing inventory, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Material handlers use various equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely and quickly. They play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, fulfilling orders, and supporting the overall logistics and supply chain operations of a business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle in-plant materials
- Pick up and deliver raw materials, work in process inventory, and packaging supplies, as needed
- Perform necessary identification and inventory paperwork
- Successfully complete forklift certification program
- Perform pre-shift maintenance checks of forklift equipment and associated record keeping
- Assist production operators with timely delivery of products and containers, as needed
- Perform visual inspection of parts for obvious defects and complete quality check sheets
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Have a desire to maintain a clean and safe 5S work environment
- Have good punctuality and attendance
- 1-2 years forklift experience preferred
- Problem-solve issues as required; ask for assistance when needed
