Job Purpose
FAC Services is seeking a Database Administrator to accelerate modernization of disaster recovery, business continuity and data architecture initiatives. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the selected candidate will be the principal database architect, responsible for the maintenance and optimization of existing databases, as well as overseeing data architecture, data storage, data security, data encryption and backup strategies and policies.
This opportunity involves hands-on responsibilities in most aspects of the database administration profession: production administration, performance tuning, data architecture and disaster recovery/business continuity. Primary Responsibilities:
The candidate will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to create robust, high-availability data frameworks, provide risk and impact input to the change advisory board, and safeguard decades of business data.
At FAC, infrastructure engineering and development are carried out using Agile practices, which ensures flexibility and rapid response to changing project requirements. Additionally, this role offers opportunities to gain exposure to Azure solutions, promoting the continuous improvement and modernization of our database infrastructure.

- Design and implement failover architectures to ensure high availability.
- Manage Always-On availability groups and other high-availability solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform database maintenance, capacity planning and performance optimization
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Implement and manage database security measures.
- Control access to database systems and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Collaborate with the Systems Administrator and the Software Development Team to define and execute data security and encryption strategies appropriate for the nature of specific databases.
- Provide guidance to data governance process, tool selection and solution architecture.
- Provide input to data architecture frameworks to support various business functions.
- Provide architectural input to the Change Advisory Board (CAB).

Education and Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in database administration, preferably in a SQL Server environment, and including production management.
- Expert in systems-level understanding of database operation and administration, including advanced disaster recovery/business continuity, data governance, authentication, storage and server virtualization technologies.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and communicate opportunities.
- Ability to quickly earn the trust of data stakeholders through active listening, anticipation of business needs, clear communication of processes and changes, and creative, timely solution of complex problems
- Firsthand knowledge building, maintaining and supporting Windows Failover Architecture, Always-On technologies.
- An appetite for continued improvement, shared knowledge and team first growth mentality.
- Azure data warehouse experience a plus.
- Work is normally performed in a typical office hybrid environment.
- No or very limited physical effort is required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
