Summary: Responsible for materials planning, purchasing, and inventory management of parts, tools, raw materials and supplies, office supplies, plant, equipment, and furnishings. Utilizing the company ERP system (SAP) for all applicable material types and processes. This position is also responsible for plant maintenance, SHE (Safety, Health, Environmental) compliance and SDS management.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for materials planning, purchasing, and storage of parts, tools, raw materials and supplies, office supplies, plant, equipment, and furnishings.
· Responsible to assure that all production related parts, materials, tools, and supplies conform to the applicable Engineering, Specifications, Repair Station Requirements, and best practices as they are purchased, received into the company, issued, and returned to stock.
· Assure that the materials team understands their requirements and works to their processes and procedures, including non-conforming product procedures as required in the performance of their work.
· Follow all AS9110 processes and procedures as they apply to Procurement and Materials.
· Maintain a Point-of-Use system for production for hardware and consumables. Maintain a JIT delivery system to production that brings parts to each work cell as they are required.
· Trouble-shoot and problem-solve issues in Material and throughout the company that impede performance. Coordinate resolutions with Site Leader and other management team members.
· Coordinate purchasing requirements and resolve any ambiguities for both MRP planned (direct) and non-planned (indirect) material purchases.
· Maintain 98% inventory accuracy as measured by annual inventory reconciliations. Ensure cycle counts are performed on a regular schedule for general inventory and JIT items.
· Assign work to the materials team in a manner that assures that schedule commitments are met. Support the production team with material, supplies, and parts they require while maintaining disciplined processes. Provide on-hand stores staff on-site whenever production has schedule work including overtime periods. Work in close coordination with the leadership team to plan and execute the weekly work plan.
· Hold regular and consistent Materials status and coordination meetings to assure both overall and specific priorities are clearly communicated and understood by the Materials team and the support organizations.
· Lead the continuous improvement activity for Material and support the activities in Production and Quality using appropriate tools and techniques. Assure a clean well-run working environment and maintain the functioning and safety of the stock room and all storage locations.
· Maintain appropriate Material metrics. Provide the team and management with appropriate visibility as to their group and overall performance to key indicators and targets including on-time delivery, on-time ordering, inventory accuracy and inventory valuation.
· Maintain the Approved Supplier List in close coordination with the Quality Manager.
· Responsible for the training and development of Material team to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their work. Perform timely and thorough performance reviews that provide clear and meaningful feedback to employees.
· Utilize best practices, procedures, and policy to manage employee performance in close coordination with Human Resources, especially using the progressive discipline approach to individual performance management.
· Responsible for final review of time and attendance reporting for exceptions within the Material organization.
· Responsible for plant maintenance, SHE (Safety, Health, Environmental) compliance and SDS management, and managing the vendor relationships which support those requirements.
· Perform to the agreed departmental budgets.
· Other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
· Five years of applicable Materials leadership in aerospace or similar industries.
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Working knowledge of materials and inventory management, production scheduling and preventive maintenance
· Experience with manufacturing operating systems such as ERP, labor collection/time & attendance.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Working knowledge of basic PC software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

This position requires the use of vision up close (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), the ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up, down or to the left and/or right while the eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: The Materials Manager performs work in a production environment and may regularly be exposed to dust and heat. Occasional exposure to loud noise (e.g., drilling) and fumes or airborne particles should be expected. Minimal exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals is present. Personal protective equipment may be required.
