As a Hydrogeologist at Facet, you will play a crucial role in the assessment, management, and sustainable utilization of groundwater resources. With a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in hydrogeology, you will bring a wealth of expertise to our team and contribute to a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for the
following:
Key Responsibilities Include
- Groundwater Resource Assessment: Conduct hydrogeological investigations to assess the quantity and quality of groundwater resources. Utilize your expertise to determine the feasibility of groundwater development
- Well Design and Construction: Oversee the design and construction of monitoring wells, production wells, and other groundwater Ensure compliance with local regulations and best industry practices.
- Hydrogeological Modeling: Develop and run hydrogeological models to simulate groundwater flow, and aquifer behavior including groundwater-surface water interactions. Analyze model results including uncertainty analyses to inform decision-making.
- Sea Level Rise Impact Analysis: Work with our team of environmental planners and GIS analysts in assessing sea level rise vulnerability and risk assessment related to groundwater impacts and flood
- Water Right Support: Perform technical analyses to inform allocation decisions, evaluate potential conflicts, and assess potential streamflow depletion.
- Environmental Impact Analysis: Assess the potential environmental impacts of groundwater extraction and propose mitigation strategies when Stay updated on environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Data Collection, Management and Analysis: Collect field data through various methods, including pump testing, sampling, and geophysical Work with GIS analysts to organize, store, and visualize data. Analyze data to understand aquifer characteristics and water quality.
- Report and Proposal Writing: Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and
- Client and Project Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Provide technical guidance to staff members.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations
related to groundwater resources and ensure that projects adhere to applicable laws.
- Field Work: Participate in fieldwork, including groundwater sampling, well installation, and data collection. Travel to project sites as needed.
- Public Speaking. Prepare and deliver technical results and recommendations to elected officials and the general public with simple clear communication.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related An advanced degree is preferred, or a closely related field will substitute for the experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a hydrogeologist, hydrologist, or geologist, with a proven track record in groundwater resource assessment and
- Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling and hydrogeological data presentation and visualization software (e.g., MODFLOW, SURFER, GMS, etc.).
- Experience with data tools (e.g. MS ACCESS, SQL, R, Python) and GIS desirable.
- Strong understanding of geology, hydrology, and groundwater flow principles including basic geochemistry.
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Strong project management and client communication abilities.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and permitting processes.
- Licensed Geologist (LG) and Hydrogeologist (LHG) in Washington State. Registration/Licensing (or ability to obtain) in other States (OR, CA) desirable.
- Self -starter, willing to work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and planners.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
