Our Urban Forestry and Arboriculture department engages in a wide range of services, including municipal tree inventory and management, urban forest stewardship, and arboriculture consulting for development projects.
Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable Seasonal Arborist with a current ISA certification to join our team. This three-month position involves assessing street tree health, diagnosing conditions and maintenance needs, and identifying potential planting sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in tree care, a strong understanding of arboricultural best practices, and a keen eye for identifying tree risks and health concerns.
Position is for 10 weeks from June to August and is up to 30 hours per week.
Primary Qualifications
- Conduct on-site evaluations of tree health and structure
- Document species, health, and condition observations
- Recommend appropriate treatment or care plans
- Maintain accurate records of tree assessments
Qualifications
- ISA Certified Arborist (Required)
- Experience in diagnosing tree health and structural issues
- Strong tree identification skills, knowledge of regional tree species, and common conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience conducting data collection using ArcGIS Field Maps or similar (preferred)
