Job Summary
As a Senior Planner at Facet, you will oversee and manage land use and environmental planning projects, ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and integrate sustainability principles into project planning. This role typically involves leading long-range planning projects for local municipalities and state/federal clients, including overseeing environmental assessments, managing report preparation and permit coordination, and collaborating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders. Our planners also provide technical expertise on land use planning. You will report to the Principal in Planning, lead multidisciplinary teams, and manage project timelines and budgets to achieve objectives within legal and policy frameworks. This position is hybrid, and may work out of our Seattle, Kirkland, Spokane or Mount Vernon offices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead project teams in areas of comprehensive planning, climate resiliency planning, shoreline master program updates, and critical areas ordinance updates
- Lead the development of land use policy and regulations that protect natural resources in concert with the built environment
- Coordinate with project applicants, engineers, architects, and agency staff to ensure project permit feasibility
- Manage project budgets, scope, timelines, and staff
- Oversee the preparation of environmental permits and documentation, including Section 404/401, HPA, shoreline, critical area permits, SEPA/NEPA, and Environmental Impact Statements
- Review internal documentation, QA/QC
- Pursue projects, including proposal development and client coordination
- Interact and communicate with clients, regulators, and lead staff at all levels
- Occasional travel in locations across the Pacific Northwest, including evening meeting attendance
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in planning or related field
- 5 years of experience as a Planner or similar discipline
- Experience with local, Washington state, and federal permitting
- Ability to work cooperatively on multidisciplinary projects
- Experience in oral presentations
- Experience using standard computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Valid drivers license and good driving record
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and identify critical path

Salary : $110,000 - $137,500
