Working closely with the County and FACETS staff, the Residential Specialist will ensure maintenance requests and repairs are actioned within a timely manner.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Travel between shelter units to inspect units for safety and habitability.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate records of all maintenance requests, repairs and unit inspection reports.
- Coordinate repairs with Facilities Specialist or gets authorization from Program Director to have repairs made as needed.
- Maintains cleaning and repair supply inventory list and reviews list quarterly.
- Performs turnover of shelter units as households exit the program.
- Works with Case Management Supervisor to report problems, solutions, and costs associated with maintaining and repairing shelter units.
- Conducts weekly shelter unit inspections for Next Steps Family Program participants.
- Maintains a relationship with all contactors, vendors, and Fairfax County facilities team ensuring efficient facility operations.
- Schedules and coordinates County inspections, repairs, and exterminations.
- In conjunction with Housing Case Manager will provide tenant education on basic apartment maintenance.
- Works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Participates in program staff meetings and conferences to share ideas and plans; works cooperatively with staff to meet FACETS goals.
- Represents FACETS in the community, in accord with Agency Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Experience with facility maintenance, sanitation and over-all janitorial duties.
- Coordinate, monitor, and ensure work is completed by self, volunteers, or by contracted vendors.
- Must be able to perform facility and household repairs; housekeeping and janitorial techniques; and be able to maintain program records.
- Must be able to ensure adequate supplies are maintained and available for accomplishing tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Results-oriented, highly organized.
- Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues or have participated in homeless or housing programs are encouraged to apply.
- Assist clients with moving and out of shelter units.
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record, and personal car insurance.
- Candidate must be able to drive 15 passenger van.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Microsoft Excel.
- Must pass criminal, Child Protective Services and DMV background checks and TB test.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times - must be able to lift and move furniture.
- Must be able to attend occasional meetings at other FACETS office locations within Fairfax County, including 3 annual organization-wide fundraising events each year.
- $20 - $22 per hour.
