Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Working Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our wholesale food processing warehouse. This position involves direct supervision of onsite staff, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, managing customer relations, handling staff matters (including hiring and firing), and ensuring the warehouse maintains compliance with SQF audits and USDA requirements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with experience in food-processing operations, workforce management, and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision & Management
- Supervise and manage a team of processing staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
- Provide guidance, training, and motivation to the team to ensure productivity and quality.
- Handle stafing needs, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management. make decisions regarding staffing issues, including discipline, termination, and promotions.
Payroll & Scheduling
- Oversee the accurate tracking of employee hours, ensure timely submission of payroll, and resolve any payroll discrepancies.
- Create and maintain work schedules to ensure the warehouse operates efficiently and meet customer demands.
Customer Relations
- Serve as a liaison between the warehouse team and customers, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.
- Address customer inquiries or concerns related to warehouse operations or product quality.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
Food Safety & Sanitation Compliance
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene throughout the warehouse and processing areas in accordance with USDA and SQF regulations.
- Lead regular inspections to ensure the warehouse is in compliance with food and safety standards, including sanitation, temperature control, and proper storage practices.
- Prepare for and lead successful SQF audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
Operational Efficiency & Problem Solving
- Monitor daily operations to identify potential bottlenecks or issues and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency.
- Troubleshoot operational or staff issues promptly to prevent disruption of workflow.
Record-Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records related to inventory, production, employee performance, food safety audits, and customer complaints.
- Prepare and submit reports to upper management on staff performance, operational efficiency, and compliance status.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with the management team to implement best practices that optimize operations and improve product quality.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a food processing or warehouse environment, with an understanding of food safety regulations (USDA, SQF).
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and train staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling payroll and staff scheduling, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and meet deadlines.
- basic computer skills (MS Office, payroll systems, and inventory management software).
- Valid driver's license (if travel between facilities is required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- SQF Practitioner certification or experience with other food safety certification programs.
- Previous experience with USDA audits and compliance in a food processing facility.
- Bilingual. Spanish Required.
