General Maintenance/Groundskeeper
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities
JOB GOAL:
To provide a safe foundation for school facilities and effectively carry out responsibilities as defined within in the job description. To provide a safe and clean environment for students and faculty.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Performs maintenance of all school grounds, planting, seeding, raking, fertilizing, mowing, watering, and trimming as needed or scheduled by the Facilities Manager.
2.Conducts preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs of power mowers, tractors, and accessory equipment.
3.Performs general maintenance of the irrigation systems.
4.Performs general maintenance of fences, bleachers, press box, concessions stand, and the half-time building.
5.Perform painting, carpentry, filter changes, minor plumbing etc.
6.Drives snow plow vehicles in emergency situations.
7.Cleans and maintains equipment.
8.Prepares the district school grounds for all activities and events as directed.
9.Collects and disposes of leaves and other refuse including trash.
10.Attends safety meetings, takes classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and computer technology.
11.Follows all district safety policies and procedures in the performance of assigned duties.
12.Knows and uses computer technology for the purpose of communication; including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Work Order System.
13.Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Maintenance Worker.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Twelve Months
- A non-exempt employee position
- Benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement
QUALIFICATIONS, ABILITIES, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Ability to work independently within a school setting, be self motivated, and report problems to the Lead Maintenance Worker.
2.Ability to communicate orally and in writing, keep detailed records.
3.Possession of a valid MA Drivers License, with a good driving record.
4.Knowledge and understanding of recent technology in boilers, air conditioning, pneumatics, controls, and refrigeration.
5.Knowledge of athletic field preparation; layout, marking, and any required field conditions.
6.Possess relevant experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance and mechanical maintenance, including but not limited to; tractors, mowers, and irrigation systems.
7.Possess or obtain a Commercial Applicators License for Pesticides in the state of MA, within eighteen months of appointment.
8.Ability to perform moderate physical effort, including but not limited to; lifting a minimum of 60 pounds, standing for a prolonged period of time, operate equipment and knowledge of the proper use of hand tools.
9.Performance of all other duties as assigned by the Lead Maintenance Worker and Facility Manager.
