Warehouse Material Handler - Commercial Plumbing ( Comstock Park - DAYS )

JOB DETAILS:

• Location: Comstock Park, MI
• Hours: 1st Shift ( roughly 7 am - 4:30 pm)
• Type: Permanent Benefits
• Pay: $16 - $18/ Hr (to start)
• Starts: ASAP upon approval

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

Shipping and Receiving

• Material handling, loading or unloading shelves and package delivery;
• Work w/ team to pick, package, and label outgoing parts for same day shipment;
• Prepare shipping labels and other documents in shipping program(s)
• Work with various carriers to ensure timely pickup of outgoing shipments.
• Receive all parcels and freight, including documentation of receipt in appropriate program(s).
• Double-check all received orders against Packing List and Purchase Order(s) and report any discrepancy to the Warehouse Manager.
• Inspect incoming packages for damage.
• Maintain tracking information on incoming and outgoing packages and freight.

Inventory & Warehouse Maintenance

• Organize and maintain stock
• Help with inventory management
• Occasionally audit part bin locations for accuracy.
• Accurately pick or kit and stage parts for Production and Project orders.
• Pick restock for vans and trailers in preparation for their next trip.
• Assist with regular inventory cycle counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
• Use company vehicles to pick up orders and supplies as needed.
• Ensure all compressed gases are properly stowed, and coordinate replacement with industrial gas vendor as needed.
• Maintain organization and timely disposal of scrap and cardboard.
• Ensure the warehouse is consistently clean and safe.

Fleet Maintenance

• Conduct daily on-site inspection of vehicles and trailers.
• Assist in maintenance cooordination for company vehicles - ie, brakes, tires.
• Help ensure all vehicles continually meet regulatory and safety standards.
• Assist with coordination of repairs with authorized service providers as requested.
• Assist with the transport of vehicles to service providers as needed.
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping of fleet maintenance and repairs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Mobility: Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs or ladders.
• Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Dexterity: Requires regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate tools, equipment, and controls.
• Reaching: Frequently required to reach with hands and arms to retrieve items from shelves.
• Hearing/Vision: Must have adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing to safely operate warehouse equipment and vehicles and to read and interpret documents.
• Environment: Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and odors.
• Equipment Use: Operate warehouse machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools.
• Travel: May occasionally travel locally between to off-site facilities for supply pick-up or fleet-related tasks.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Eligibility for insurance under our vehicle policy is required.
• Picking and kitting experience is preferred.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory and documentation.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanical systems.
