Job Description: Facilities Development Summer Worker
Project focus will vary and may include a combination of the following:
Construction
Construction Management
Architectural & Engineering
Department Operations
Communications
Office Administrative
Purpose: This position offers students hands-on experience in a career field of interest, providing exposure to workplace culture and routines. There are a total of 16 positions available. Four (4) positions will be working directly with BSD, and 12 working directly with our construction, trade and architectural partners.
Tasks will vary and may include a combination of the following:
Read, write, and respond to emails.
Organize photos and videos electronically.
Visit construction sites to observe progress.
Manage electronic documents (uploading photos, documents, etc. in eBuilder).
Attend meetings, take notes and meeting minutes.
Edit documents.
Label furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Print project drawings and specifications, and update project binders.
Collate electronic drawings for the project team.
Scan and organize documents.
Organize equipment, materials, and supplies.
Collaborate with multiple teams.
Take and edit photographs and videos.
Write copy for social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ParentSquare).
Create basic graphic designs using Adobe InDesign or Canva.
Update the 2022 Bond website using a content management system.
Skills:
Comfortable with technology.
Experience using MS Office or equivalent software.
Organized and detail oriented.
Interest in the design and construction process.
Requirements:
Current BSD student and be 17 years of age before internship begins.
Must have driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Hours and Work Setting:
Weekly schedule: 3 to 4 days a week (Mon. – Thurs.), 8 hours per day (8 AM – 4:30 PM).
Work location:
Facilities Development (16550 SW Merlo Road, Beaverton, OR 97006) and/or various sites throughout the district.
Positions working directly with our contracting partners will be based at various locations throughout the Portland Metro area.
