Job Description
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Utilities, construction activities of the municipal Water and Wastewater Systems. The Utility Project manager would assist in the procuring and managing of construction projects related to the City's water resources, the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater, the production, treatment and distribution of water and the installation and maintenance of related water and wastewater equipment and facilities.
Examples Of Essential Functions
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of construction management necessary for the successful implementation of projects.
- Procurement of professional and contractual services related to utility renovation and improvement projects.
- Administer construction documents throughout the construction process included, but not limited to, Notice to Proceed, Meeting Minutes, Work Change Directives, Change Proposals, Change Orders, Time Management (critical path method scheduling), and the like.
- Coordinate the efforts of design professionals, inspections and troubleshooting.
- Keep accurate records, and maintain correspondence with consulting engineers, regulatory agencies, landowners, developers and customers.
- Develop and monitor the project departmental budgets.
- Supervise subordinate project management personnel.
A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university civil engineering or related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and/or construction management. Experience in water and wastewater utility construction is preferable.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Self-motivated and willing to be challenged.
- Ability to grasp new concepts required to the completion of moderate to complicated tasks related to the subject workload.
- Interest in learning and increasing in expertise and responsibility.
- A working knowledge of business mathematical principles.
- A working knowledge of construction principles.
- Ability to write and present reports in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors and the general public.
- Ability to mentor and share knowledge with team members.
- Budget skills and advanced understanding and ability with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to Write letters With Legal and Technical terms.
