Job Summary
FSI is looking to hire a Biomedical Equipment Technician to join our team. The Biomedical Equipment Technician will perform repairs, calibrates, and maintains medical equipment and instrumentation used in health care delivery field by performing the following duties. This position will be responsible for managing/scheduling all aspects of inspections and repairs including ordering parts, maintaining an accurate inventory, maintaining test equipment and proper documentation.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspects and installs medical and related technical equipment in medical and research facilities.
- Services various equipment and apparatus such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia,
- Repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment.
- Safety tests medical equipment and health care facilitys structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.
- Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.
- Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to medical personnel.
- Modifies or develops instruments or devices, under supervision of medical or engineering staff.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and/or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1-year experience working with biomedical equipment in a medical facility environment.
- Valid drivers license and insurable driving record.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic equipment.
