DDC Technician
Job Summary
FSI would like to hire a DDC Technician to join our team. The DDC Technician will maintain our client’s Building Automation Systems. This includes service (routine or emergency) and preventative maintenance. Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
- Maintains refrigerant inventory and usage records.
- Mounts compressors and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
- Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.
- Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
- Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
- Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
- Installs air and water filters in completed installation.
- Injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to tests systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.
- Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation.
- Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap and water solution.
- Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands.
- Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment.
- Maintain/repair and service to air conditioners, chillers, control motors, damper motors, fire and smoke dampers, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, and split type systems.
- Lubricate bearings and motors as required by the manufacturer and local standards. Remove excess grease, oil, and dirt from the equipment.
- Repair electrical connection as required to ensure a secure connection and avoid stress on the wires.
- Ensure the equipment and equipment’s surroundings is clean and free of debris.
- Maintain interior air box, dampers, louvers, fans and drain pans clean and free of dust buildup.
- Maintain motor controllers clean and free of dust buildup.
- Monitor and maintain chemical treatment levels in closed loop systems.
- Perform software/hardware calibration required for proper equipment and system operation.
- Performs all duties in conformance with company safety policies and procedures.
Assist in salting and snow removal as required
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Two-to-four-year technical degree and/or industry related technical field experience including HVAC Systems, DDC Systems, software and device calibration.
- Minimum of three years health facility related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledgeable in DDC applications pertaining to the HVAC industry
- Previous BAS programming preferred.
- Any personnel performing work on HVAC systems shall be certified by one of the following:
- A nationally recognized HVAC certification programs (i.e., North American Technician Excellence (NATE),
- ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification, the International Code Counsel (ICC), or
- Documented Journeyman status in a state or nationally recognized apprenticeship program, DD214 documented Level Five or higher training and a EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- All state or federal license requirements; or any licenses or certificates that may be required by the contract in which the employee is working.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Must be able to pass a company drug screen and a local background check
- Must have a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
