General Maintenance Worker
Job Summary
FSI would like to hire a general maintenance worker to join our team. This position performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs routine inspections of buildings and equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of mechanical, electrical and storage areas.
- Performs preventive and general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Installs dispensers, televisions, medical equipment, etc., Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers and toilets.
- Mounts picture frames, plaques and signage.
- Replaces ceiling tiles and repairs suspended ceilings. Utilizes plaster/compound to patch minor holes/cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Prepares and paints piping, structures and equipment.
- Replaces belts, filters and motors on HVAC equipment.
- Repairs concrete floors, steps and sidewalks.
- Assists other trades as needed.
- Maintains written and computerized documentation of work performed.
- Follows company’s safety, health and accident prevention plan.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NACI/LAC clearance after hire.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces, assist others as part of the maintenance team as required and perform other duties assigned according to personal qualifications.
- Professional, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Willing to learn, follow instructions and work well with other members of the team.
- Be able to perform basic troubleshooting and read plans and equipment manuals.
- Have the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, squat, bend, kneel, work overhead or in awkward positions or spaces and be able to lift 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Proficient in the safe use of hand and power tools.
