FSI is looking to hire a locksmith to join our team.
Job Summary
The Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. Examines locking mechanism and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding, opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling. You may be asked to switch to 2nd or 3rd shift at any point during the contract. This is based on the contract with the government.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices.
- Installs and repairs door hardware and hydraulic closing fixtures.
- Disassembles locks; repairs and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification.
- Issues keys and maintains records of keys issued and returned.
- Maintains, repairs and installs doors and associated hardware, GSA containers, and vaults.
- Maintains, repairs and installs doors and associated hardware to include, but not limited to, cylinder, mortise, and electronic locking devices.
- Maintains and repairs opening and closing devices and finish hardware.
- Maintains records of work performed.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains both mechanical locking and electronic key card systems.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Works job assignments, researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports.
- Requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime work including areas other than respective skilled trade.
- Assist with salting and snow removal.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three (3) years related experience in healthcare facilities; and any federal or state required licenses and certifications.
- Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NACI/LAC clearance after hire.
- Must possess a valid state drivers license and insurable driving record.
- Must be familiar with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and manufacturers recommendations.
- Must have one (1) year experience in repair and installation of locking devices and be certified or be able to become certified IAW DOD 5200.1-R, paragraph 3-400.
