What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Assistant Team Lead-Medicine position at Faculty Physicians Inc.?
Directs activities of the Medical Assistants in the various practice sites. Serves as a lead worker to both the clinical and non-clinical activities. Serves in the role of a Medical Assistant to an assigned practice. Performs various patient care activities, including assisting with patient flow, taking vitals, giving injections, and other needs as required. Maintains nurses’ stations, exam and procedure rooms. Where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates clinical assignments within the RRT. Assesses department need and assigns appropriate clinical staff.
- Assesses and evaluates Medical Assistant staff competencies. Provides instruction and training on new skills and competencies needing improvement.
- In collaboration of the Staffing Supervisor, evaluates MA’s job performance and provides
developmental opportunities. - Assists in the placement of non-clinical RRT staff considering the skill mix and competence of RRT staff with department needs.
- Makes frequent inquiries/site visits of individual RRT assignments to assure the quality and service of
RRT staff. Provides onsite training as needed. - Gathers and documents brief history and chief complaint in the medical record.
- Follows established guidelines to obtain necessary testing based on the chief complaint prior to the exam. Prepares patient for examination by the health care provider.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Medical Assistant certification required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Five plus years medical assisting and medical office experience

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
