The University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc is currently seeking a Surgical Scheduler Lead (Supervisor) in the Department of Neurosurgery. The Department of Neurosurgery aims to excel and innovate in the clinical practice, science, and education of neurosurgery. GENERAL SUMMARY

Oversees and ensures surgeries are posted correctly and timely by the posting staff. Proactively monitors potential cancellations due to controllable issues. Oversees and ensures that referral and pre-authorization activities are undertaken in order to provide maximum patient and provider satisfaction and maximum reimbursement. Maintains reporting to Sr Director on productivity, quality and service excellence. Maintains a positive work environment and serves as a player coach with new initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees and manages office operations and creates efficiencies.
  • Assists in developing goals and work plans to increase productivity in surgical posting policies and procedures.
  • Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluates effectiveness and modifies as necessary.
  • Establishes deadlines and targets for work assignments.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves work issues in a timely manner and ensures things do not escalate.
  • Assists in recruitment, hiring, orientations and development for staff.
  • Assists in evaluations, payroll, HIPAA, compliance in accordance with FPI policy.
  • Assures office is appropriately stocked within budget.
  • Assures patient satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Monitors, evaluates and decreases surgical cancellations.
  • Increase patient’s readiness for surgery. Checklist and reporting in surgical database.
  • Assists with implementation of surgical coordinator role.
  • Completes mandatory employee health, workers compensation, HR processes, and other training and requirements in required time frame to insure compliance with all FPI rules and regulations.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree.
  • Minimum of five years related medical office experience.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Current knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and preauthorization.
  • Knowledge of IDX or similar computerized billing system.

Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.

General understanding of back office operations.

Strong customer service skills.

PC proficiency.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Surgical posting ,Neurosurgery, OR or Orthopaedic experience preferred


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients and staff.

Ability to write reports and memos.
