What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster position at Faculty Physicians Inc.?
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in claims adjustment may be substituted
- Three to five years recent workers’ compensation claims adjusting experience
- One to three years in the State of Maryland
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews University of Maryland Medical System, and other participating entities, Employee’s Report of Injury or Illness records for early identification of occurrences, notice of loss, medical only or indemnity claims.
- Monitors trends and patterns or reported occurrences.
- Maintains required OSHA documentation.
- Initiates prompt, thorough review of assigned claims, obtaining essential documentation, recorded statements, witness interviews and accident site inspections as necessary to make a timely compensability decision.
- Controls indemnity and expense costs by properly and promptly evaluating claims and recognizing opportunities for subrogation and/or indemnification.
- Recommends denial of coverage, as claims review dictates.
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
