Position Summary
The Calverton Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the Auxiliary Service Association Business Coordinator and Director of Finance by thoroughly reviewing contracts, identifying key provisions, flagging potential risks, suggesting edits, and helping revise the document to protect the interests of the user better, ensuring clarity and compliance with relevant laws, while streamlining the contract review process to ensure compliance with company guidelines and legal requirements.
Position Details:
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-time (29 hours a week): Generally, Monday – Friday day shift

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, law, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and contract management software.
- Familiarity with basic legal principles and contract terminology.
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
- Prior experience in a legal or contract review role is preferred.

- Carefully examine incoming contracts from various departments, including vendor agreements, service contracts, and client agreements.
- Analyze contract terms and conditions to identify potential legal risks, areas of concern, and non-standard clauses.
- Highlight key provisions, such as payment terms, delivery schedules, warranty obligations, and termination clauses.
- Conduct thorough due diligence by researching relevant legal precedents and industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to draft revisions and amendments to contracts based on identified issues.
- Ensure contract language is clear, concise, and legally sound.
- Prepare redlined versions of contracts to highlight proposed changes visually.
- Maintain a comprehensive contract database, tracking key information such as contract parties, expiration dates, and critical terms.
- Prepare contract summaries and status reports for internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to gather necessary information for contract review.
- Assist with contract execution processes, including obtaining required signatures and filing documents.
