Position Objective:
Maintain and oversee all activities in the Sports Book Department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains accountability and safeguards of all Sportsbook Assets.
- Oversees all Sportsbook operations, both daily and long term.
- Create staff schedules, ensuring adherence to established labor levels as approved, maintain time and attendance records.
- Monitor and make recommendations on Sportsbook risk and liability, leading up to and during sporting events.
- Ensures team and operations adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures, Louisiana State Police Regulations and Internal Controls.
- Manage HR responsibilities for team including hiring, firing, disciplining, training, and performance management.
- Instructs, guides, and counsels assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties. Prepares and coordinates the periodic performance reviews of assigned personnel.
- Maintain and reconcile a cash bank; responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
- Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs when necessary.
- Handle writing/cashiering in accordance with department policy and procedures when necessary.
- Authorized to make and approve adjustments in KAMBI.
- Authorized to approve payments greater than $10,000.00.
- Notifies Executive Management Personnel of all payments above $10,000.00.
- Authorized to Reprint Bet Tickets and Vouchers should there be printer malfunction.
- Communicate with Slot Personnel concerning all winnings that are triggered to notify the IRS.
- Verifies and provides funds for, and records, Sportsbook winning payouts at the level of when a W2-g is required.
- Reviews sports book department statistical and financial reports for accuracy.
- May conduct fund exchanges for patrons during an emergency situation or as deemed necessary by management.
- Verifies and takes custody of property generated cash and cash equivalents.
- Verifies count of various bank funds if necessary.
- Ensure, adhere to and document any transactions that fall into the categories of currency transaction requirements (CTR), money laundering and Suspicious Activity Reporting for Casinos (SARC) requirements.
- ID Verification of a guest when required.
- Arbitrates customer disputes.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns or observation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Sports Book Lead Writer and Sports Book Writer
Personal Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Supervisory Experience and Skills.
- Strong Guest Service Skills
- Ability to acquire a Louisiana State Gaming Permit
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk, stand, sit, crawl, twist, kneel, push, stoop, climb stairs, climb ladders, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 25 lbs. or over.
Conditions include working inside and outside, working around office equipment with moving parts and moving objects, working protracted or irregular hours, excessive or intermittent noise and around dust. Regularly uses keys to obtain entry in kiosk and office area.
The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate but may be occasionally loud.
