What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at Fair Grounds?
Essential Functions –
- Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also be experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems.
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.)
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Operates a variety of small stationary equipment such as air compressors, portable generators, fan motors, pumps, etc.
- Operates a variety of Heavy Equipment such as backhoe, kubotas, skid loaders, etc.
- Repairs or replaces defective equipment using hand and power tools
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities : No
Education and / or Experience : At least five years of relevant experience required; High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities : Good knowledge of the techniques and terminology used in the operation of mechanical equipment; ability to operate a variety of mechanical equipment; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to work alone or with others; ability to learn new work quickly; mechanical ability; manual dexterity; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position. Ability to read and write. Ability to interpret and / or communicate written or verbal instruction. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Effective verbal, listening and communications skills.
Licenses / Certificates : Must be 21 years or older. Must have a Valid Driver’s License.
