SUMMARY: Ensure the quality system meets compliance, as well with federal government regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to production operations by complying with policies and procedures for meat processing; Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations, etc.
- Contribute to a safe and sanitary work environment by complying with established procedures and rules.
- Inspect fresh meat to be used in the process to assure wholesomeness.
- Monitor and record weights and temperatures of cooked meat products.
- Monitor and assure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and establishment procedures are being followed, and that safe, quality meat products are being packaged for delivery to our customers.
- Document and correct deficiencies found during walkthroughs (GMP’s and facility) and product monitoring checks
- Monitor and assure the effective operation of production line metal detectors.
- Verify and record case weights and case piece counts and temperatures of the finished product.
- Verify information printed or stamped on finished product cases, including proper code date, ‘Use Thru’ date, product code, etc.
- Collect and document product samples for lab (micro) analysis, perform chemical analysis, grilling, and organoleptic testing of finished product samples to assure the customer is receiving a quality product.
- Perform environmental swabbing, air quality and water sampling and submission
- Retain unacceptable or questionable products for further analysis.
- Perform QA Technician duties and responsibilities for breaks/lunches/absences for Vacation/FMLA/LOA.
- Perform special assignments, as directed by Q. A. management.
- Responsible for the quality of work performed and for identifying and documenting quality problems for corrective action and for preventing non-conforming products.
- Train and monitor performance of quality technicians
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Level 1 Foreman
- Proficient in all QA Tech skills
- Enforcement of SOP’s, policies, and procedures (documentation and correction of non-compliances)
- Identify root causes and participate in CAPA, including corrective actions and preventive actions
- Train QA technicians
- Completion of pass down reports
Level 2 Foreman
- Proficient in all QA Tech skills
- Enforcement of SOP’s, policies, and procedures (documentation and correction of non-compliances)
- Identify root causes and lead CAPA (corrective actions and preventive actions)
- Train QA technicians or foreman
- Completion of pass down reports
- Evaluate and propose discipline
- Develop solutions to daily problems
- Manage shift in absence of supervisor
Level 3 Foreman
- Expert of Level I & Level II functions
- Understand & use SAP system
- Knowledgeable in the operational practices of both East & West
- Good decision making
- Review and confirm paperwork documentation
- Manage shift in absence of supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desired B.A. in Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent in science degrees.
- Required High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Possess basic math and computer knowledge including abilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be dependable and detail oriented.
- Must be able to follow directions, record data neatly & accurately, and work under minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively and clearly in a timely manner.
- Must be willing to work weekends and overtime hours as the company necessitates.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and good mathematical skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment safely.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
75% of the work is performed on the production floor, and the other 25% is in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
