Job Title: Development Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Exempt, Full-time (40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Flexible
Salary: Range 9, Step A($60,638) - E($73,705), DOE
Benefits: 3% Retirement Match, $3,000 annual healthcare stipend, 120 hours PTO in year one, 8 paid holidays annually
Essential Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy
- Evaluate FCM’s fundraising strategy to identify areas for improvement
- Identify funding opportunities beyond FCM’s current funding portfolio
- Implement a strategy that incorporates grants, corporate sponsorships, individual giving campaigns, and special events
Donor Stewardship
- Cultivate relationships with prospective donors
- Improve communication with and stewardship of current donors
- Engage consistently with corporate donors
- Develop a plan for increasing the number of individual donors and increasing the gifts of existing donors
Grant Writing and Management
- Build upon existing grants FCM receives
- Identify new grant opportunities to research, write, and submit for
- Explore government funding opportunities at Borough, State, and Federal level
- Track and evaluate the success of grant-funded projects
- Create surveys to collect useful data for grant-writing purposes
Special Events
- Create, plan, and implement new fundraising events
- Work with the leadership team to increase fundraising opportunities associated with existing special programs and events
Community Engagement
- Develop surveys to gather data from museum guests to drive programming development
- Identify businesses, nonprofits, and borough departments with potential for collaboration
- Conduct regular check-ins with stakeholder groups
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience fundraising through special events, individual giving campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and/or grant writing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Self-motivated for independent work
- Able to work collaboratively with a small team
- Flexible and adaptive, both in scheduling and in learning
- Reliable, organized, and motivated to help FCM grow in our community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years serving in a development role, preferably in a small nonprofit organization
- Five or more years experience managing relationships with clients and/or donors
