Morenci Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Academic Coach to support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies, facilitating professional development, and utilizing data to drive student success. This role is key to strengthening instructional practices at Fairbanks Middle School.
Key Responsibilities
Teacher Support & Professional Development
- Facilitate Cluster Meetings weekly or bi-weekly.
- Conduct individual coaching during teachers’ prep periods.
- Provide weekly mentorship and support for new teachers.
- Conduct classroom walk-throughs, offering constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with teachers through co-planning, modeling, and co-teaching.
- Assist in the implementation of effective instructional strategies aligned with district goals.
Assessment & Data-Driven Decision Making
- Organize and facilitate district benchmarks, state assessments (AASA, AZELLA), and other student testing as needed.
- Ensure compliance with testing administration and security protocols.
- Analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and interventions.
Classroom Instruction & Support
- Teach two targeted classes (one ELA, one Math) to model best practices.
- Provide non-evaluative classroom feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of school improvement plans.
- Design and lead professional development sessions for individuals, small groups, and staff-wide training.
- Serve as a liaison between teachers and administration to support instructional goals.
- Other duties as assigned to support district initiatives.
Qualifications
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certification
- Experience in instructional coaching, curriculum development, and data analysis
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of state and district testing procedures preferred
