Industrial Painter - 2nd Shift
Summary
The Industrial Painter is responsible for overseeing painting operations on products manufactured in the facility. The position ensures compliance with paint specifications, production timelines, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Painting Duties
- Spray primer and finish coats on a variety of components, including motors, cabinets, brackets, and more.
- Follow MIL-specifications and the Company’s paint specifications to mix and apply spray materials.
- Operate spray booths and compressed air paint sprayers using a range of finishes such as epoxy, enamel, lacquer, gloss, and semi-gloss.
- Conduct masking, drilling, and nameplate installation as required.
- Maintain paint related documentation and record updates of new product specifications.
- Serve as the primary contact for all paint-related tasks.
- Collaborate with internal departments to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
- Interpret blueprints, traveler documents, and procedures accurately.
- Ensure product quality and promote best practices to reduce rejection rates.
- Participate in 5S, Kaizen events, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keep work areas clean and organized; follow EPA and company safety guidelines for hazardous materials handling.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on spray equipment.
- Assist in the design and build fixturing to enhance painting processes.
- Accurately document material and paint-related issues on traveler pick lists.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts.
- Order departmental supplies as needed.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- Standing and moving for extended periods throughout the day.
- Must meet medical requirements for respirator use and adhere to PPE standards.
- May be exposed to paint chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with EPA guidelines.
- Overhead cranes available to assist with lifting; no lifting over 50 lbs required.
- Education: High school diploma or trade school certification.
- Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on spray-painting experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to interpret technical drawings, and strong communication skills.
