GRANT SUMMARY
The goal of the New Beginnings Recovery Home Project is to provide comprehensive, coordinated, and evidence-based treatment and services for American Indian / Alaska Native (AI / AN) individuals, including those with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health conditions, who are experiencing homelessness resulting in reduce substance abuse and improve housing stability. New Beginnings will pay particular attention to meeting the disparate needs of the LGBTQIA population.
POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for providing mentorship, peer counseling, and support services using the Athabascan Recovery Model of traditional Athabascan Values of love for children, family unit relationships, self-sufficiency, care & provisioning for family, practicing of Native Traditions, respecting wisdom from life experiences, respecting Elders and others, promoting spirituality, and sharing & caring of community.
JOB DUTIES
- Provides recovery support to consumers in Behavioral Health Services treatment centers while consumers are in treatment, including facilitating Talking Circle.
- Provides recovery support to consumers following treatment completion or exit from Recovery Home for six (6) months via referral and follow-up to the Behavioral Health Community Coalition (BHCC) system of care.
- Works in collaboration with treatment counselors to develop a Transition Plan one week before treatment completion.
- Works in collaboration with the House Manager to develop Recovery Support services upon transition from Recovery Home.
- Oversees community services activities.
- Share lived experiences with consumers and families.
- Share experience with navigating the mental health system.
- Share experience with homelessness.
- Provides linkage to housing and / or recovery housing.
- Provides trauma-informed care and care navigation to culturally specific services.
- Supports consumers during their treatment experience providing positive feedback and hope.
- Maintains a caseload of eight (8) consumers.
- Ensures adherence to data collection requirements and enters accurate and timely data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Develop billing records.
- Oversees safety and security of consumers in Recovery Center.
- Attends mandatory position training that provides training in risk factors as designated by the Project Manager and / or Clinical Supervisor.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality following 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPPA.
- Attends all required staff meetings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
