- A Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science and/or five (5) years equivalent work experience.
- Three (3) years of experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
- Proven experience in network infrastructure planning and development.
- Exceptional technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Apple OS, Chrome, and Linux.
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including DNS, HTTP, SSL, LDAP, TCP/IP.
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Strong skills in using Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently under broad guidelines and objectives.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of clients.
- Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on district business, must hold a valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and registration.
- Certifications in Cisco Networking and Security.

Job Summary:
The Director of Network Services plans, directs, manages, and coordinates the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the District’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. Schedules and directs the activities of a team of Network Technicians to resolve end-user network problems in a timely and accurate fashion. Provides oversight of web filtering in accordance with Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and district policies.
Salary: Grade 7, $75,143.95 - $105,538.99 DOE
Work Day: 8 hours
Work Year: 12 months
