- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in education, social work, counseling, communication, or a related field and at least one (1) year of experience working with at-risk students in an educational, social service, or family support service setting; OR
- Associate’s degree or a minimum of 48 college credits and at least three (3) years of experience working with at-risk students in an educational, social service, or family support service setting.
- Possess an understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, and ability to work effectively with Alaska Native populations.
- Experience working in confidential settings, maintaining confidentiality of records. 4. Knowledge of interviewing skills and interpersonal communication.
- Successful experience planning and facilitating interactive presentations. 6. Ability to adapt to meet the needs of the families in the program.
- Must have excellent collaboration skills.
- Ability to understand curriculum and content of the regular school day program.
- Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to respect ethnic, cultural and language diversity.
- Ability to use a computer for correspondence, data tracking and reporting.

Job Summary: The Migrant Education Program Recruitment and Family Engagement Assistant works with families, students, schools, and community organizations interested in program participation. Actively identifies and recruits migrant children and youth for certification in the program and receipt of program services. Assists in coordinating family engagement for partnership in meeting the academic instructional goals of students enrolled in the Migrant Education Program. Performs various intermediate clerical, financial, and secretarial tasks supporting program coordination. The assistant works with the migrant team and principals to motivate family engagement in education and encourage successful student outcomes. Exhibits respect for diversity and culture at all times.
New Hire Hourly Rate: Grade 11: $29.57 - $33.17 DOE
Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work Day: 7.5 hours
Work Year: 10 months
