What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Technician Supervisor position at Fairbanks Urology?
Job Purpose:
The MLTS is critical to the overall performance, operations and compliance of the laboratory. This position interacts with all the various facets of the company: Team members, outside medical facilities, vendors and providers.
Essential Functions:
· Perform all functions of chemistry and complete blood count specimen collection, processing, and reporting.
· Perform routine maintenance of assigned instrumentation.
· Manage lab supply and reagent inventory.
· Troubleshoot instrumentation and assay problems.
· Evaluate quality controls for problems.
· Maintain lab certifications (CLIA<>
· Maintain logs, records and documentation as needed for compliance.
· Educates, oversees and evaluates lab support staff.
· Manages lab employee schedules for adequate coverage to prevent operation closures.
· Regular attendance and punctuality.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
· Perform any other functions as required by management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree (science) 4 years clinical experience in high complexity lab.
OR
· Master’s degree (science) 2 years clinical experience in high complexity lab.
Preferred Skills
· Graduate of an accredited school of medical laboratory technology (MLT (ACSP), MT (ASCP) or equivalent)
· Prior experience in an outpatient environment.
· Superior phlebotomy skills.
