Due to retirement, Fairbury Public Schools, located in Fairbury, Nebraska, is seeking an innovative and dedicated individual to serve as the Assistant Principal/Activities Director.
Position: Assistant Principal/Activities Director - Fairbury Jr/Sr High School

Position Summary:
The Assistant Principal/Activities Director provides leadership and support to students, staff, and the school community. This role oversees student discipline, instructional support, and the management of extracurricular and co-curricular programs to foster a positive school climate and culture. The individual ensures compliance with district policies and state regulations while promoting student success in academics, behavior, and activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administrative Leadership:
- Support the principal in implementing the school’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Assist with the supervision and evaluation of staff, providing feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee student attendance, discipline, and behavior management systems.
- Collaborate with teachers to analyze data and improve instructional practices.
Student Activities Management:
- Develop and oversee the schedule and operations for all extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including athletics, clubs, and special events.
- Supervise coaching staff and activity sponsors to ensure alignment with district goals and policies.
- Monitor budgets and financial operations related to student activities.
- Serve as the liaison between the school and external organizations, including state athletic associations, booster clubs, and community partners.
School Climate and Culture:
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment.
- Act as a resource for students, staff, and parents, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns.
- Lead initiatives to enhance student engagement and participation in school activities.
Operational Duties:
- Oversee logistics for activities, such as transportation, facility use, and event planning.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and national regulations for student activities and athletics.
- Participate in the development of school policies and procedures.
Communication:
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Prepare reports, schedules, and communications related to student activities and school operations.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
- Master’s Degree in Education Administration or related field.
- Valid Administrator’s Certificate (as required by the state).
Experience:
- Proven experience as a teacher or administrator, with demonstrated leadership in education and student activities.
- Familiarity with organizing and managing extracurricular programs, budgets, and schedules.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis and technology for school operations.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to education and extracurricular activities.
