We specialize in optimizing freight and transportation logistics and seek a strategic, results-driven Sales Director to join our leadership team. This role is critical in driving business growth, optimizing pricing strategies, and leading new business development efforts.
The Sales Director oversees and manages corporate pricing strategies, drives new business development, and leads the BPO prospecting team. You will shape and execute key strategic initiatives, work closely with senior leadership, and build long-term partnerships with clients and prospects. This role requires a strong understanding of pricing models, RFP bid processes, and the logistics brokerage industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for Overall Corporate Pricing (Bidding, Forecasting, Strategy):
- Develop, implement, and manage pricing strategies that align with business goals and maximize profitability.
- Oversee and refine the bidding and forecasting process to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
- Analyze market trends, customer data, and competitor pricing to adjust strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- RFP Bid Process and Approval:
- Lead the Request for Proposal (RFP) bid process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather the necessary data and insights for bids.
- Provide strategic recommendations for the approval of bids and manage customer negotiations.
- Spot Market Tool Development and Maintenance (Including Bitfreighter):
- Develop and maintain the company’s Spot Market tools and platforms, including Bitfreighter.
- Ensure tools are effective, user-friendly, and aligned with the company's pricing and business strategies.
- Continuously analyze tool performance and implement improvements as needed.
- Lead New Business Development Efforts and Bonus Programs:
- Drive efforts to generate new business by identifying and targeting prospective clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, developing long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to design and implement bonus programs that incentivize high performance and sales growth.
- Manage BPO Prospecting Team:
- Lead and manage the BPO prospecting team, ensuring consistent performance and achievement of targets.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to team members to maximize their effectiveness.
- Monitor performance metrics, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with broader sales objectives.
- Power BI Reporting and Analysis:
- Utilize Power BI to create comprehensive dashboards and reports for pricing analysis, RFPs, and sales performance tracking.
- Leverage data visualization and reporting tools to support decision-making and drive strategy.
- Maintain and update Power BI reports to ensure real-time access to key metrics and insights for leadership and sales teams.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and other internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Stay current on logistics industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity.
- Support senior leadership in decision-making and contribute to the overall company strategy.
- Maintain a high level of professional knowledge and expertise through continued education and networking.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field; MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: 5-15 years of direct pricing and brokerage sales experience in the logistics or transportation industry.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of pricing strategies, RFP processes, and the logistics brokerage landscape.
- Experience with Spot Market tools and platforms, including Bitfreighter.
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including creating and managing dashboards, reporting, and data analysis.
- Ability to develop and execute business strategies that drive growth and profitability.
