What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nurses Aid position at Fairfax Behavioral Health and Memory Care Community LLC?
RESPONSIBLE TO: Administrator, DON, ADON, Charge Nurse
JOB SUMMARY: Assists progressional nursing staff to perform appropriate nursing
tasks assigned to him/her.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
1. Helps admit new residents.
2. Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood
pressures and weights.
3. Bathes and assists residents in bathing.
4. Assists in giving oral hygiene and other personal care according to
the needs and abilities.
5. Dresses and undresses, or assists residents requiring help.
6. Prepares residents for meals. Assists and feeds those needing help.
7. Provides oral fluids and between meal feedings.
8. Measures and records intake and output, as directed.
9. Collects specimens.
10. Assists residents needing help in toileting.
11. Keeps incontinent residents clean and dry.
12. Changes bed linens or assists residents involved in self-help active
treatment programs and/or specialized treatment programs when
required.
13. Listens to residents' requests and tries to satisfy needs and wishes, if
advisable.
14. Reports and records observations.
15. Turns bed bound residents and reports pressure areas on bed and
wheelchair immediately.
16. Helps with keeping residents' rooms clean and neat.
17. Encourages residents to do as much for themselves as their
capabilities permit.
18. Assists residents with self-care activities.
19. Communicates with residents and assists them in developing to their
maximum abilities as part of their active treatment program and/or
specialized treatment program when required.
20. Assists with rehabilitation.
21. Regulates room temperature, ventilation and light.
22. Receives and assists visitors in friendly and helpful manner.
23. Assists to the best of his/her abilities in making this facility a pleasant
and safe home for the residents.
24. Perform and assist in all therapy programs and range of motion when
required.
25. Performs duties as assigned within the limitations of educational
preparations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Good physical and mental health.
2. Physical ability and stamina for: constant walking, standing during
work periods, turning, stooping, bending, stretching, lifting to assist
residents with proper technique to prevent possible injury.
3. Manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments and other equipment.
4. Ability to observe changes in a resident's condition and report this to
supervisor.
5. Ability to follow instructions and established nursing care routine.11.
6. Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering
simple treatments and related bedside nursing care.
7. Basic understanding of aseptic and sterile techniques.
8. Patience, tact and a desire to serve those who are physically and/or
mentally handicapped.
9. Ability to adjust to many types of personalities and situations.
10. Able and willing to work flexible hours.
11. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
