Job Overview
Seeking a motivated and experienced front desk receptionist for a newly established ophthalmology practice, within a pleasant and cordial work environment, in an office with one physician. Applicant is required to be reliable, punctual, able to multitask, have excellent communication and computer skills. Receptive to constructive feedback and ability to learn new tasks with a growth mindset is imperative. Experience in practice management software EMA/Modernizing Medicine and knowledge of ophthalmic billing/coding is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Checking in and checking out patients
- Scheduling office appointments and surgeries
- Update patient demographic and insurance information
- Obtain referrals from family doctors and authorizations from insurance companies (use of portals - Availity, Navinet, etc)
- Call patients for appointment reminders
- Communicate with insurance supervisors
Other duties may include - obtaining patient history and medication list; performing diagnostic tests (checking vision, visual field, OCT, fundus camera will be trained on these)
Skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills - must be able to type at least 50 words/min
