What are the responsibilities and job description for the Energy Management Technician I/II (May be Underfilled) position at Fairfax County Public Schools?
Description
Performs responsible technical work in carrying out the daily operations and functions of the energy management program by monitoring and adjusting the building automation systems (BAS) for proper HVAC comfort and energy management control; provides user support and maintenance services on the BAS systems to all assigned schools.
Qualifications
Required
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), supplemented by technical training or coursework in building automation systems (BAS) and / or HVAC systems to include microprocessor-based electronic equipment.
One (1) year of experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of industrial HVAC systems.
Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
Position may be required to work an evening and / or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and / or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls.
Knowledge of energy management computer operation and programming.
Ability to resolve computer-related problems and provide assistance on plant operation problems.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and report findings.
Ability to effectively interface and maintain working relationships with school-based employees, maintenance personnel, and contractors
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
Knowledge of various BAS operating systems (such as Trane, Delta, and Siemens).
