Description
Supports an Extended School Year program; works with elementary school students that require support for a range of disabilities and are working on VESOL-based curriculum taught in the previous school year; supports instruction, classroom and behavior management, implements individual student reinforcement systems, assists with routine care, including personal hygiene, feeding, and toileting, performs certain medical procedures or gives medication under supervision and with appropriate training; and aids medically fragile students and those physically impaired, which may involve transferring to and from wheelchairs to floor, table, or therapy devices.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), with completion of the Best Practices for Teaching Students with Autism Modules 1-8 or ABA Fundamentals, required. Two (2) years of college education with some experience working with elementary students, preferred. Knowledge of health, safety, and first-aid methods; ability to provide appropriate care to students with disabilities; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and varied skill levels in a collaborative learning environment.
