What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER INTERN - Transmission System Aide position at Fairfax Water?
Under the supervision of the supervisor, Transmission System operations, the Transmission System Aide provides hands-on valve and system support to the Transmission System Operations team. The Transmission System Aide is responsible for assisting with locating, exercising and testing transmission system valves for shutdowns and the valve exercising program and various other duties as assigned. In return, the Transmission System Aide will receive hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a Transmission & Distribution department.
- Assist with locating, exercising and testing transmission system valves for shutdowns and
the valve exercising program.
- Assist Transmission Technicians investigate and respond to customer inquiries,
complaints and concerns.
- Assists with building and grounds maintenance tasks to include cleaning vehicles, work
areas, equipment and tools.
- Assisting Transmission Technicians with assigned preventive maintenance duties.
- Position Hours, Monday - Friday 6:30am-3:00pm
- Ability to keep records and make reports.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform manual physical labor that may include long periods of standing, bending, twisting, stooping and climbing.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
