What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER INTERN- WTP Engineering Aide position at Fairfax Water?
Under the supervision of Sr. Plant Engineer, the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Engineering Aide provides engineering support to the Production Team. The Engineering Aide will support a wide range WTP functions including project management, environmental compliance, safety, technical documentation updates, writing technical reports, and process data analysis. This is a great opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of engineering and technical projects required to operate an advance water treatment plant.
- Support plant-wide asset management projects as directed Sr. Plant Engineer.
- Support environmental compliance through inspections, documenting findings, and taking corrective actions.
- Assist in compiling the WTP Production budget inputs.
- Develop sampling plans and conduct sampling in support of plant projects.
- Updating technical documents to include SOP, maintenance manuals, and drawings.
- Process, analyze and develop reports with Production process data.
- Conducting research to identify potential solutions to plant problems.
- Conduct their work in a safe manner and follow Fairfax Water safety policy.
- Follow the direction of experienced tradesman and seek clarification if directions are unclear.
- Drive a Fairfax Water vehicle, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Position Hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, located at the Griffith Plant
- Strong aptitude in MS Office applications (especially EXCEL and PowerPoint), MS SharePoint, and experience with 2-D drafting skills.
- Prefer candidates pursuing engineering degree but other STEM majors will be considered.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments: outside, industrial, and office. Up to 50% of time will be field work.
- Ability to work from a ladder.
- Ability to operate a hand truck, pallet jack, power and hand tools.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
