Responsibilities
The Director of Ignatian Academic Programs and Research is responsible for all student related academic programs at Fairfield Prep and for bringing rigor to our research practices in teaching and learning. The Director of Ignatian Academic Programs and Research reports to the Dean of Academics & Faculty Formation and directly supervises the Summer School Principal. Responsibilities of this position include:
- Ignatian Academic Programs
- Lead the course selection process, including the preparation of the Course Catalog, student selection of courses, and teacher assignments alongside the Department Chairs, Dean of Academics and Faculty Formation, and Principal
- Develop, enhance, and monitor AVLI, dual credit, summer, and other alternative academic course offerings
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a formal student survey program for students to take and offer feedback to faculty members about their experience in the classroom.
- Update and enforce the Academic Integrity Policy, focusing specifically on the integration of AI in the classroom.
- Discern the number of required courses for students as a graduation requirement as a whole and within each department, including the exploration of cohort courses and the future of AP and dual credit courses with Fairfield University.
- Design, implement and execute a research portfolio for students.
- Assist the Dean of Academics and Faculty Formation with coaching, observing, and formally evaluating faculty members through classroom observations and observation meetings
- Coordinate and monitor the educational technology program and establish a 2 – 5 year educational technology professional development training plan for faculty members to best and most appropriately incorporate the use of technology into classroom instruction
- Provide information for faculty about current research on instruction.
- Plan, coordinate and execute the Back to School Night, Honors Awards Ceremony, Parent Conferences and Semester Exams
- Coordinating the report card grade submission process
- Serving as moderator of the National Honor Society
- Coordinate the Book Awards process
- Research and Data Analysis
- Conduct a thorough assessment of current data practices, resources, and needs across Fairfield Prep and Identify key areas for improvement and opportunities for integration.
- Set up a centralized data warehouse and integrate existing data sources.
- Implement analytics tools and platforms to facilitate data analysis and reporting.
- Conduct research to focus on various domains of research, aligned with the school’s strategic priorities and Jesuit values, and inquiry to support comprehensive data-driven decision-making across the institution including:
- Student academic performance monitoring.
- Academic intervention strategies
- Teaching effectiveness
- Social-Emotional health
- Counseling and Support Services
- Cocurricular Participation
- Ignatian Mission Programs (Student and Adult)
- Mission & Ministry program participation and impact assessment
- Staff demographics
- Develop data on all aspects of a student’s academic experience, from inquiry to graduation and college success.

Qualifications For Position
- Candidates must have at least five years of experience teaching in a high school setting
- Candidates must hold at least a MA degree in Secondary Education or a related field
- Candidates must have experience with, or be familiar with, the Jesuit ideals
