SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

Fairfield County ESC

Title : School Psychologist (various Locations Throughout Fairfield County)

Sign On Bonus :

  • 10,000 sign on bonus is available providing you meet the following three requirements :

Must be a new applicant with less than 5 years of past experience

  • Reside outside of the Central Ohio area
  • Must commit to completing 3 years with the Fairfield County ESC
  • Qualifications :

  • Master's Degree in School Psychology
  • Valid Ohio Pupil Services License
  • Excellent leadership, time management and communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of state and federal school laws, regulations, procedures and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and interpret diagnostic and assessment data
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with parents, students, and staff
  • Required criminal background check
  • Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verfication
  • Valid Ohio License
  • Reports To :

    Superintendent and / or Designee

    Job Goal(s) :

    Provide an organized, comprehensive, quality assessment / consultative school services program. Facilitate the education of all students in the least restrictive environment.

    Performance Responsibilities :

    1. Adheres to procedures for identification, evaluation, placement and re-evaluation of students in need of special education services.

    2. Conducts assessments of all students referred for special education consideration and interprets results to parents, teachers, and / or administrators as needed.

    3. Makes recommendations in cases of exemption, non-promotion, acceleration, and other cases upon request.

    4. Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and identifies evidencebased interventions for students identified as needing special education services.

    5. Serves as a resource to parents, school team, staff and administration on disabling conditions and their effects on education.

    6. Provides consultation and in-service to district personnel regarding legal obligations related to special education.

    7. Consults with administrators, parents, and teachers regarding students referred for psychological services other than special education. This may include conferences, observations, and assessments through formal or informal testing, including specific recommendations to remediate concerns.

    8. Assists teachers in the development of effective individualized education plans for students.

    9. Initiates, facilitates and maintains liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet pupils' special needs. Refers parent and child to counseling and other mental health agencies when appropriate.

    10. Participates in the development and implementation of in-service and training programs for certified and classified staff in a variety of topics related to special education services. 11. Collaborates with staff on the development of curricula and instructional practices to support diverse learners.

    12. Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to licensure and education.

    13. Attends in-services and workshops to keep up to date on new psychological practices including assessment tools, techniques, consultation and the latest research in effectively working with students.

    14. Has a strong understanding of Response to Intervention for the purpose of interpreting the data to intervene, offering interventions and determining need for referral for multi-factored evaluation.

    15. Provide individual and group counseling.

    16. Promotes school policies and practices for the purpose of ensuring the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying and harassment.

    17. Assists in screening of students possibly in need of more comprehensive assessment.

    18. Maintains confidentiality of information on students with disabilities.

    19. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or his / her designee.

    3. Ability to communicate ideas and directions clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

    4. Organizational and problem solving skills.

    6. Respects confidences shared by the staff and operates in a discreet manner in all related matters.

    Additional Working Conditions :

    1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.

    2. Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions

    3. Occasional alternative / flexible hours / days.

    4. Occasional travel.

    5. Occasional interruption of duties by staff and / or telephone.

    6. Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification.

    7. Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.
